Graduate Honor Cords

Participants in Captain Shreve's annual graduation ceremony embody the ideals of our mission to promote academic achievement and leadership development.  Graduates with distinction are attired for the ceremony as follows:

• Green and gold honor cords signify students with a grade point average greater than 4.0
• Gold and white honor cords are worn by the remaining top five percent (5%) of the graduating class
• White stoles distinguish members of the National Honor Society.
• Light blue and gold cords signify members of Mu Alpha Theta National Math Honor Society.
• Royal blue and gold are worn by members of the National English Honor Society.
• Black and gold cords are symbols worn by members of Beta Club.
• Purple and white cords are worn by members of the National Technical Honor Society with a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
• Silver cords are worn by are worn by graduates who have scored 30 or higher on the ACT.
• Medallions distinguish students with superior performance on mandated state exams in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies.
• Navy blue stoles are adorned by scholars in the AP Capstone program.
• Navy blue and gold cords signify Louisiana Boys’ State delegates.
• Red, white and blue cords signify Louisiana Girls’ State delegates.
• Red, white, and blue cords distinguish Eagle Scouts.

The school’s tradition recognizes the additional regalia listed above to the cap and gown as each will relate to the academic significance of the distinction.

While we appreciate the value of honor cords from other organizations, our recognition of students will remain limited to the honor cords and medallions that are listed above.
